I established Elizabeth Jowett Conservation of Paintings in 2010. My clients include Manchester City Galleries, The Lowry, John Rylands Library, Gallery Oldham as well as individual collectors.
I have an MA(hons) in History of Art from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Conservation of Fine Art, Easel Paintings from the University of Northumbria. I am an Associate member of the British Association of Picture Conservator-Restorers (BAPCR) and the Institute of Conservation (ICON), on whose PACR Pathway I am enrolled.
Remedial work is completed to a high standard, both technically and ethically. My approach favours minimal intervention where appropriate, with an emphasis on conserving original material and preventing avoidable deterioration. Where further intervention is necessary I ensure that, as far as possible, my work is reversible. I produce photographic and written documentation for all of the treatments I complete. I also offer reports to support the loan of objects between institutions and to institutions from private collections.
